Nestled between the mountains
and the ocean and speckled with well-preserved

enjoys a wealth of tourist assets. Qingdao
is named one of China's top 10 promising
cities and one of China's top 10 cities
for living environment by the U.N. Qingdao
also enjoys the title of "Model City
for Environmental Protection" honored
by the State Council of China.

Qingdao received more than 22.097 million
person-times of tourists in 2004.
Tourism income for the year totaled 20.756
billion yuan. Of this total, US$288 million
was from international tourism.
Known for its splendid natural environment
and cultural heritage, Qingdao was selected
to host the 2008 Beijing Olympic games
Sailing Regatta with 11 Gold Medals to
be produced. Mr. Henderson, Chairman of
the International Sailing Federation,
was quoted as saying "Qingdao is
one of the most beautiful cities in Asia
and is eminently suited to organize the
sailing regatta for the 2008 Olympic Games.
I believe that Qingdao will become Asia's
foremost center for water sports." |
